At Wells and Horrington Cricket Club, volunteering isn’t something extra — it’s simply how we do things.
Like most grassroots cricket clubs, almost everything you see happening at the club is made possible by volunteers. From match days and training nights to junior coaching, maintenance, administration and social events, the club exists because people give their time to help it run.
That might sound like a big operation — but in reality, it’s lots of small contributions coming together to support cricket in our local community.
A Club Built by Its Members
We are a friendly, community‑focused club that provides cricket for players of all ages (from 5 years old upwards) and all abilities, from first‑time juniors to experienced senior players.
Our junior section is a huge part of the club, and we’re proud to offer a safe, welcoming environment where young players can learn the game, build confidence and enjoy being part of a team. Alongside this, our senior sides and social cricket ensure that there’s a place for everyone who wants to play.
While our coaches are qualified and reimbursed for their time, they are still part of a wider volunteer effort — working alongside parents, members and supporters who help make training and matches possible.
Why Volunteering Matters
Volunteering at Wells and Horrington CC isn’t about filling gaps or solving problems — it’s about supporting something positive and local.
Every hour given helps us to:
Without volunteers, grassroots cricket simply wouldn’t exist.
What Does Volunteering Look Like?
There’s no single way to volunteer at the club. Some people help regularly; others lend a hand occasionally. Some roles are visible, others happen quietly in the background — all of them matter.
Examples include:
You don’t need cricketing experience, specialist knowledge, or lots of free time — just a willingness to help in whatever way suits you.
New to the Area? New to the Club?
If you’re new to the area, looking for a club for yourself or your children, or simply curious about getting involved, volunteering is a great way to:
Many of our volunteers started out simply as parents on the boundary or players turning up to train — involvement often grows naturally.
Getting Involved
There’s no pressure and no expectation — just a conversation.
If you’d like to know more about the club, are interested in playing, or think you might be able to help in some way, we’d love to hear from you. Whether it’s an occasional hand or a more regular role, every contribution helps keep Wells and Horrington CC thriving.
We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
