Our women had the first two games of their 2026 campaign this weekend, playing against Wedmore and Weston-super-Mare in the first stages of the Weston and District six aside indoor league.
They started the afternoon well against Wedmore, putting on a masterclass of running between the wickets to accumulate 84 runs without loosing a wicket in nine overs. A clinical bowling and fielding display contained Wedmore to 48 runs, taking six wickets in the process. These wickets boosted our score to 114 runs, making the victory margin 66 runs.
Our ladies then continued their success against a competitive Weston-super-Mare team. Once again batting first, running up a total of 101 runs but loosing several wickets in the process, before limiting Weston-super-Mare’s reply to 57 runs. After accounting for wickets taken, our ladies totaled 116 runs compared to Weston-super-Mare's 91.
Standout performance from the games include an outstanding all around contribution from Jodie (taking two wickets for eleven runs against Wedmore, and hitting 25 runs from 19 balls across both games) and Libby (hitting 52 runs from 20 balls across both games, including a heavy hitting 34 from 9 against Weston-super-Mare in the second game).
Congratulations to all of the ladies that took part in the first two fixtures of 2026, taking their team to joint first in their league of nine teams.
